I have always had a good experience here....until Saturday night. I had told my son how good it was. From the moment we walked in it was a disaster. We had a 5:30 reservation that was changed from 6:00. That was no problem, however the others that had a 6:00 were early. The waitress couldn’t quit complaining about it. We were seated and served a salad. She kept repeating how bad it was that the others were early and she would get our soup as soon as possible. After NEVER getting our soup, she brought our medium rare steaks out that were completely without any red or even pink. She acted upset with US. My filet was returned and had been pressed instead of grilled. My son ordered medium rare prime rib. His took longer than my filet!! Prime rib?? The whole experience was such a let down.

My grandparents used to love this place, so I wanted to reminisce. We called and made reservations with Robert (the owner). When we got there, another group of four people walked in the doors, just in front of us. When all eight people were in the entryway, Robert had a very dramatic/irritated reaction. He looked directly at my party of four and asked if we had reservations. I told him that we did, and that we had called ahead. He let out dramatic sigh, rolled his eyes, and proceeded to seat the other group of four people anyway. When he returned to us, he again asked if we had reservations. I told him that we had called ahead, spoke to Robert and that there would be four of us. He said that he thought that the other group was the party with the reservation. He told us that we would have to leave. I asked if he didn't have enough room, as I looked around at the totally empty restaurant. He said that he couldn't feed us, because he didn't have enough food. I told him we could wait for him to cook some more since we drove an hour an half with reservations. He just shook his head and said no, he didn't have any more food to cook. SO HE OWNS A RESTAURANT AND DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED EIGHT PEOPLE. He then suggested that we drive down the road to a place called Beaty Wildwood. It was a gas station that had wings and pizza. Fate told us to keep driving, and boy are we glad we did! We drove just a LITTLE farther and found a restaurant called Simply Fresh. We were skeptical because it was attached to a gas station, but don't let appearances fool you, it was FANTASTIC. Chef Michael who owns it actually went to chef school and saved our day! We will now be Simply Fresh regulars!! Needless to say, my party was VERY upset about how we were treated at Bacara's but TOTALLY STOKED about the treasure we found instead. Moral of the story folks, don't waist your time at Bacara's and drive 10 more minutes down the road to Simply Fresh in Jamestown!!!!
